Until 28 February 2026, you can try Scite_, a tool that offers both a quantitative and qualitative view of how scientific publications cite one another.
Scite_ is a modern AI-powered tool for searching, analysing, and evaluating scholarly literature that goes beyond traditional citation databases. Instead of focusing solely on citation counts, it highlights the meaning and context of citations. Using so-called Smart Citations, Scite_ shows whether a publication is supported, merely mentioned, or critically challenged in subsequent research. This helps users more quickly assess the article's real impact and understand how it fits into the broader scholarly discussion.
To use all features, you need a user account registered with a university email address in the format anything@anything.cuni.cz.
Students who do not have a faculty email address can use an email address in the format UKID@cuni.cz. This mailbox can be accessed via the Office 365 web interface:
UKID = an eight-digit number used for other Charles University services
Sign in using your university email address (UKID@cuni.cz)
If prompted, confirm your login via CAS
If you already have a Scite_ account registered with a non-university email address, you will only be able to use it within the University's IP range (when accessing Scite_ via the E-resources Portal, the link is proxied through the Charles University network).
If you would like to learn more about the additional features Scite_ offers or how the tool works, please see the series of video tutorials and supporting materials:
